SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. As a leader
1.1 Attend all staff meetings and contribute wherever possible.
1.2 Take leadership of other camp activities as assigned by the Director.
1.3 Be responsible for the overall supervision of your cabin at all times. Give clear instructions to the campers you are responsible for from the first day:
a) Go over camp rules and be sure they are understood.
b) Post a daily schedule in your cabin
c) Impress upon campers the need to care for facilities & equipment (Cabins, mattresses, trees, wildlife, personal property).
d) Insist on cleanliness and personal Hygiene.
e) Insist on proper conduct and manners at each mealtime, chapel, and during sport activities.
1.4 Assign individual duties with reference to your cabin (sweeping, etc)
1.5 Show them how to make beds, etc. check with the nurse & hostess as to their expectations in cabin inspection.
1.6 Monitor the cabin, even at night, to ensure the presence of all campers.
1.7 Check with the Director for any health problems among your campers.
1.8 As far as possible, deal with disciplinary matters among your campers as they arise. Report any missing campers to the Director at once. The Director is there to help you if you need guidance or assistance with a repeated problem.
1.9 Fill out camper evaluation forms and return them to the Director on the last day of camp.
2. As a friend
2.1 Be present during registration to welcome campers and assist in getting orientated to their cabin and to the camp.
2.2 Seek to begin the week well by trying to establish positive attitudes between the camper and yourself, between the campers and themselves, and between the campers and the other staff.
2.3 Try to distribute your time evenly with all the campers under your care. Both cooperative and uncooperative campers need your attention. Avoid allowing any one camper to monopolize you.
2.4 Live with them as a parent, friend, and spiritual leader 24 hours a day. Remember that your example will have the most lasting effect.
3. As a teacher
3.1 Teach the Bible Lesson daily (Material and instructions provided)
3.2 Teach campers how to have private devotions and help those needing help.
3.3 Conduct an evening devotional time as the last activity of the day.
3.4 Spend time with Campers as individuals to assess where they are spiritually and to give counsel.
3.5 Help them in any preparation for participation in chapel or closing program.
3.6 Pray daily for each child entrusted to you by God.
3.7 Make a follow-up contact with campers from you cabin at least once during the year following the camping season (eg: Christmas card, phone call, visit, etc...)
PERSONAL GUIDELINES
1. Time Off: There will be time off each day for the Cabin Leading staff. This will be arranged by the Director.
RENUMERATION
1. Room and board will be provided for the duration of each camp in which the Cabin Leader works.
2. Bursary positions are available to deserving individuals. Those interested should send in their résumés to the SLBC Board. Local people will be given priority.

3. Attendance at the pre-camp training session.
4. Successful completion of the application process.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
1. Works under the direction of the Camp Director.
2. Works under the immediate supervision of a Senior Cabin Leader.
3. Works with other cabin leaders and support staff.
4. Provides oversight of and leadership to the campers.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To Cooperate with the Camp Director.
2. To live with a cabin group of campers and assist the Senior Cabin Leader in overseeing their health, safety, and spiritual welfare.
3. To demonstrate a Christ-Like spirit in one’s attitudes, social relationships, and whole life.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. As an assistant to the Senior Cabin Leader
1.1 Attend all staff meetings and contribute wherever possible.
1.2 Assist with other camp activities as directed by the Director.
1.3 Assist with the overall supervision of the cabin at all times.
a) Understand the rules and assist the Senior Cabin Leader in keeping order.
b) Assist the Senior Cabin Leader in following the schedule.
c) Assist in taking care of the facilities and equipment.
d) Help maintain proper conduct and manners at each mealtime, chapel, and during sports activities.
1.4 Assist with cabin cleanup.
1.5 Assist the Senior Cabin Leader in monitoring the campers, especially after lights out.
1.6 Report disciplinary problems to the Senior Cabin Leader.
1.7 Report any missing campers to the Senior Cabin Leader.
1.8 Assist the Senior Cabin Leader in completing the camper evaluation forms on the last day of camp.
2. As a friend to the campers.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall, the job of directing the camp program involves the proper planning and preparation of necessary tasks, the running and execution of the ongoing directorship of the camp program, and the necessary clean-up after specific events.
1. Planning and preparation
1.1. Upon acceptance and arrival to camp for the summer, further instruction will be given regarding the specific aspects of your responsibilities in relation to the directorship of the camp program.
1.2. Regarding designated aspects of the camp program that you will be responsible for planning for (as outlined by the director), you will ensure all preparations are in place before the aspects of the camp program are run.
1.3. Generally, some expected aspects of the camp program you can expect to plan and prepare are the daily wide games, regular themed suppers, and other special activities that happen sporadically throughout the week.
2. Running and Execution of the Camp Program
2.1. The majority of your time through the summer will be focused on the running of the day-to-day schedules of each camp.
2.1.1.You will be overseeing and directing the execution of wide games and themed suppers
2.1.2.You will be overseeing and ensuring that there is proper communication amongst the camp regarding the camp program. As it pertains to the day-to-day camp program, you will ensure…
· Campers are up-to-speed and understand what is coming ahead on the camp schedule through announcements at the end of meals, chapel times, or at any other applicable times.
· Cabin leaders understand what lies ahead in the program and are appropriately notified about changes to the camp program.
· The kitchen staff are continually updated on the day-to-day details of the camp program. You will be expected to touch base with the kitchen staff prior to every meal (10-30 minutes before the start of the meal) to ensure they are ready for kids to come in and eat. You will also be expected to notify them of any changes that may affect them.
· Staff meetings are an optimal time to share important information and details pertaining to the camp program will fellow staff, speakers, and the director.
2.2. You will be in charge of ringing the camp bell to notify everyone of when the program changes.
2.3. You will be in charge of adjusting the camp program if external factors interfere (i.e. bad weather, etc.)
2.4. You will be overseeing the daily morning cabin cleanup reports (aka. The snoopy reports) which includes the daily checking of every cabin after their cabin cleanup time and giving them a score. Then, you will communicate “snoopy’s” scores for each cabin at lunchtime.
2.5. In cases where you have oversight and leadership, there may be opportunities for you to ask other staff to help run/ accomplish a specific part of the camp program, but you are in charge of overseeing other staff delegates you bring on to help or run a specific task.
2.6. At points throughout the summer, the Director(s) may appoint a task to you that does not fall directly under your specific job description, but will aid the director(s) in some other aspect of helping the camp to continue to run well
3. Clean-up
3.1. In areas where you have direct oversight of a specific responsibility or job - whether it is you, someone else, or a group of staff doing the job - you will make sure the job is run and completed well and that proper cleanup happens afterward.
